Sabuli children’s center

Founded by Sabuli Sanguma in 2012, the Children’s Center supports over 90 children today. In a nurturing environment children receive a nutritious diet, healthcare, education and a community of loving caregivers and new friends. If possible, they may be reunited with family. Ages range from infant through 17 years.

Thank you, MVPC, for the wonderful Christmas dinner and celebration again this year! The children feel your love. In addition, the gift of dance instruction was very well received. Through this dance instruction and building on the skills they’ve already learned, the children were able to absorb even more social and interpersonal skills. They learned about themselves and their culture. In a public venue in Gemena the children put on a performance that they practiced hard for. The community enjoyed this, which was a “first” for this village of Gemena. More photos & videos to come…

Sewing & tailoring / vocational training

With support from MVPC, vocational training is offered to children who have graduated from the Children’s Center and do not have the opportunity to go on to college. Programs are offered in tailoring, sewing, carpentry, bread baking and technology. Many are starting small businesses of their own, through a micro-lending program, vital in an environment where the unemployment rate is extremely high.
